Has it been found if it is the silkie gene or something else, I read alot of that thread in early Dec. but never heard if they found where the feathering came from. And I believe they were having a hard time hatching them.

That is good to know. My Self-blue Cochins are in a pen with my young buffs and they don't seem as lively or "smart" as the buffs. They are flightier too. Another problem with the Self-blue/Lavenders is poor feather quality. Some say the self-blue gene is close to the poor feather gene , others say it is the same gene.
