And I love those Silkied Ameraucanas.
By the way, you're officially an Okie - you have been added to the Okie Roll Call in the "Out of State Okies" section. Yippee!

Isn't it nice that here on BYC a person can have multiple "citizenships"? Or in the case of some of our Okies...multiple personalities! (Monty/Buckguy/Kronk/Okie Moses)

June - thanks for the clarification - I didn't think the Seramas were ever crossed with Silkies, but I'm glad you typed it "out loud" for me!

Go Steelers.

I am so glad you have water! Did you figure out where the problem was, or did things just finally thaw out? Be sure to keep everything running/heated tonight to try to prevent it freezing up again.

I think they're great birds, very good natured. They have been consistent layers all winter. I usually get about 5 eggs a day out of 8 laying hens, so I think they've been taking turns. The eggs look normal sized to me, about the same as my Black Australorps. They have only been laying since fall. The eggs are a light brown. They are pea combed, so frostbite isn't much of an issue with them. My roosters are vigilant but know to behave themselves around me or my boy. I haven't had any problems with flogging or other bad rooster behavior, beyond getting my boots pecked when the food doesn't get put out quick enough. They are also plenty big enough to eat, if you are interested in dual purpose.

Famous! hahahahaha ....

Hey, I love that multiple citizenships! I am actually from Iowa, lifelong, until we moved here 4 years ago.

Thanks everyone, for the warm welcome!

Evening folks! Sale was a bummer to day. They only had three or four roosters and a bunch of old cages, I didn't even stick around. Wife was wanting to go to Nashville to the Country Music Hall of Fame so we spent the afternoon walking thru it. Boy I am tired after all that walking too. Plus I was late getting the afternoon meds so I am pretty lame right now!
Didn't get any snow to speak of,its actually above freezing right now.
Is any one interested in Show quality Black and or Blue Americanas. Or Iowa blue hens? Some one in Kentucky has them listed I can post the info if anyone is interested.

Do you mind if I ask where you live? Do you sell fertile eggs? I would be interested in a couple dozen each of the Buckeyes and Black Austrolorps both! Lynn
