What kind of snake?

He's a baby ball python. He was a hatchling last Summer when my DH bought him for my birthday. He doesn't like snakes, but he knew that I have always wanted one. My parents would never allow one and I just haven't ever got one on my own. He's escaped his cage a few times, but the longest disappearance was for 3 days. We ended up finding him in the drawer under the entertainment center. Well DH found him when he went to get a game out. LOL We've been offering him food whenever we noticed him being active since he quit eating. He's gone through 2 sheds since the last time he ate. We built him a new cage last weekend and I'm guessing that he is enjoying it. He has been active a lot lately. We had him out this evening and he was really active slithering all over me and DH, so we decided to try it again. It took him less than 10 seconds to attack. I was relieved to say the least.

I lost all my baby cochins 'cause even though I put them with a hen that already had babies, the rooster with'em apparently knew they were imposters.

Sorry to hear about you babies, and glad your snake is eating. What kind of snake? My daughter had a python that got out of its cage once and disappeared somewhere in the house. About three months later she found it in her closet. It was pale in color but after she fed and watered it, it's color came back and it behaved normally. It took a couple of weeks for that to happen though.

I, too, am not planting any outdoor gardening this year. First year in quite awhile nothing will be growing there.

Several months??? the snake was loose for several months? My hotel bill would have been really expensive.

Hubby went to TSC to get vet supplies for dog who needs bandages changed daily and sent me a text that said..."what about chicken math?" Have a feeling he is bringing home chicks this time lol! Wonder if he knows they have a 6 chick limit.

We have some neighbor dogs that won't stay off of our place and I asked DH to put up some electric fence to keep them outta here...

Evening Everyone!

Well tomorrow is Friday and it would have been better if it had come a day earlier. This week has kicked my backside black and blue.

Hope everyone else's week is going better. Sorry to the ones who have been having a bad week, especially loosing birds to dogs and predators. Been there on both accounts and it really sucks.

Also hugs to those who lost baby chicks. Sometimes these things just happen, even to the best of them. Most people who have been raising birds for very long have some big loses at one point or another. Mine have been quite a bit but

and knocking on wood so far this year I have been pretty lucky.

Speaking of lucky I have one of my big ameraucana hens go broody so I have been sticking eggs under her as my living incubator (cuz I am too lazy to fire up the bator and do it myself). Looks like most of the eggs are coming along really nice. Have some millie fleur cochins, black, blue and splash ameraucanas. My showgirl hen is just gone totally broody and will sit on anything so I am going to put some of the eggs that are getting close to hatching under her since she is not so heavy. Is that wrong to do?? I have another cochin hen that is starting to act broody so what I am going to do with the ameraucana hen is let her have a few of the chicks to raise so she will stop brooding and let the other two incubate for a while. Now that is some lazy chicken raising folks and I don't care who knows it.

The good news is I am taking half a day off tomorrow. I know this sounds wimpy but it is a mental health day and that is all I am going to say about it.

Planning to make Saturday an auction extravaganza. Going to Prague in the morning then Blanchard in the evening. Anyone going to either auction??? If anyone talks to MJ let her know I got millie fleur cochin eggs for her. Only 4 maybe five if Meg pops one out two days in a row but I know her eggs are fertile because I have some developing and almost ready to hatch under a hen right now.

Hope everyone has a great evening. I am going to go close the coop, shower and go to bed. Night!
