What is this Pheromone for attracting japanese Beetles for trapping that I keep reading about ??.

I am annoyed!!!! I have been checking the Myriad Gardens website regularly to see when it was going to reopen, and I have just found out they have been reopened for a while and not a peep on the site about them being opened!!!!!!

Thanks! And Yea, I sure they are roos, they already are getting some pretty large walnut combs, they fluff up and hop around at each other. They act like the want to crow, take the stance, fluff up, stand tall, open wide......and nothing comes out LOL

I think im going to rehome my blue roo. I want some more hens. If anyone close is interested let me know, otherwise he will be accompanying me to POOPS

About how much are silkie hens going for now? Anyone know? Dont need anything fancy, they are just simply for my own enjoyment.

Price depends entirely on quality. My breeders are all show quality that I've paid $$ for, but even they sometimes have pet quality babes. Mine sell anywhere from $10 to $75. I usually sell pet quality for $10 to $20 each, as even they are much nicer than you get from a hatchery. Some of my friends, who are really good breeders sell theirs for more than that. I have no idea what full grown hatchery silkie hens sell for, but someone else may be able to tell you.

Good Afternoon Everybody!

Sounds like everyone is getting some well needed rain. At least it is not a deluge, with rivers running through the yard. If we could have rain like this for 4-5 days we might be out of the drought phase for a while.

Well got the outside chores done as much as possible before the heavier rain and wind kicked in. Everyone is at least feed and watered and that is most important.

Very excited though, Found three more babies under the incubator hen (Angie the blue Ameraucana) and two piping. The three that hatched appear to be one wheaten, one black and one blue/wheaten splash. Of the two that are piping one is a Millie Fleur!!

Out of a dozen eggs I bought at the Blanchard auction from Jack, so far 9 have hatched, one is piping, the other 2 I am hoping will hatch. That as far as I am concerned is a great hatch rate. Yes?

I have two other hens that seem to be aching to incubate so I am looking for special eggs to put under them. Maybe some more silverlaced LF cochins, or more millie fleur cochins. The sky is the limit. All the chicks I have hatched this year have grown up big and healthy. Knock on wood but this has been a good year.

By the way is anyone interested in some wheaten or blue/wheaten splash ameraucanas or maybe black? I am only keeping blue, black, white and blue splash. I do not need all that I hatched but they sure are nice birds. Guess I could bring them to POOPS to swap or sale. Just let me know, I will try to get pics posted soon.

Dang the thunder is getting intense. My big 20lbs cat (biggest wussy when it is storming) is hiding under the coffee table giving me stink eye, like this is my fault.

Better go out and check to see if any other babies have hatched or pipped.

Back in a bit!

I havent had any luck finding any silkies near by that arent strait run chicks from feed stores. Id really like some young hens, any color. They are really easy for my kids to handle, which is very important, since they carry them around all the time, and make weekly trips to PreK. I just hate to spend a ton of cash of something i will just be keeping as a pet. When my daughter gets older i may start letting her get into the shows. we will just have to see when the time comes.

Okay some much for light gentle rain we are getting pounded. Great! At least the coop is fixed so there will be not flooding. Some inventive work but at least everyone is dry.

POOPS Update

Saturday, May 14th, 2011, Fletcher Ok

I just wanted to take a minute to let everybody know that POOPS is only 2 wks away and we are getting down to the wire on our planning. I wanted to let those who have never been to POOPS and are first timers as well as our older members that Sooner will be needing to get your Pot luck food Contributions added to her list, she does a fantastic job at managing the list but she can't do that without knowing what is being brought, so that she can better help with some dishes or items that may be lacking. everybody must bring something.

The success of our annual POOPS event has allways been the eager willingness of our members to participate in a giving and timely manner, that enables us to provide a wonderfull event outcome. So please Contact Sooner with what you plan on bringing for the Pot Luck dinner as soon as possible so she can get her list built up. The entire meat menu is already taken care of.

I would also like to remind everybody that the same idea applies to the Donation auction and the raffle, we desperately need these donations for the POOPS event to thrive and continue to be a fun family event. So please contact Myself/al6517 for your auction donations, and contact Monty/Buckguy20 for your raffle donations as soon as possible so that we also may be able to manage our list.

Please Feel free to either ask on our thread or PM those mentioned people for any questions and contributions you have, Thank you all again for your patients and participation in helping make our yearly POOPS event such a great success.
