POOPS Planners - Will this POOPS be a one-day event? Just Saturday? The location adds an hour to my drive each way, so staying overnight will be a necessity.

yeah, we are in the same boat- but i think its awesome to be at fletcher! like a home away from home, and no stress over offending non chicken folks!

we should be heading out shortly, will check in when we get back...

oopppss....guess we aren't going anywhere...arggggg.... the main road is a sheet of ice....maybe it will clear up later.....

Robin - Now that I've got my Tacoma, I should have extra room for transporting birds if you need any help for POOPS. Keep me on your list so that you can contact me if you run short of cage space.

No school for us today. It's a good thing, too, because I'd be sitting in a ditch waiting for a tow truck right now otherwise. DH took the big Dodge to work, and even with 4WD on, he said it was dicey navigating our gravel roads to get to the highway.

It will be mostly a one day event. I am sure there will be some folks who will be down there getting things ready and the like so there will be at least an opportunity for those folks to meet up and eat and/or chat.
At this time, there are no PLANNED events for Friday or Sunday.
Thanks,
Monty

Monty or Al - I hope one of you is composing a new thread over in the Chickenstocks, Shows & Meet-ups Forum about the upcoming People Of Oklahoma Poultry Society get-together! Of course, the more I think about it, the more excited I get.

I'm still snowed in at my place - have been shoveling the past three days and am getting closer to having my garage door clear. I am about 3/4 up the driveway and to the flat spot at the top. My goal is to clear it so my car can leave the garage before the snow comes again tomorrow night/Wednesday. Of course, once I got down my cleared driveway to the street I'd be in trouble. I am blessed to be able to work from home on many of my projects. Everyone stay safe!

Good idea, will have to see how they handle the addition.

they shouldn't have a problem with it- they are a good source

Got my reply back this morning from the hatchery. I think I will just stick with the feed store chicks. In order to add one chicken it will cost me the price of the chicken, the new shipping fee and $10 for the change in order. That would be one expensive little chick. But I'm glad to know that I can just combine the new one with the others without any problems.

Don't forget to get MORE THAN ONE chick of the new breed. Chickens are social, flock animals - just one little chick in a brooder by itself will be very lonely, and it may not thrive as well as if it had a couple of buddies.

finally got the 1/4 mile drive way, cleared of the 20" snow drift, drove up in the neon, got up there, road is not good. tried it, getting out of the valley is no problem, but the foot humps of snow in the center of the road, nearly bounced me into the ditch. went back home. took six tries to get up the hill, car actually climbs better in reverse than forward. finally got back in the cleared driveway. went back home.
