Was at the computer around 5 yesterday and heard a loud bang at the back door, which is three rooms away. Thought it was Vashi coming in, so didn't go check. Few minutes later started out to feed and water the flock, and sitting on the back porch was a lovely female Cardinal. Picked her up with no struggle, but she was making a strange "crunchy" sound in her throat. Poked holes in a shoe box lid, added pine chips and put her in to keep her calm and quiet. When Vashi came in, he added a small container of water and some sunflower seeds. Checked her later; no movement except eyes, but the sound had stopped. This morning took the box to the front porch (no cat or dog near), opened the lid, and she flew off! Beautiful sight!!

Was planning to go to the Guy Rose auction again Saturday morning, but can't shake this cough left from the upper respiratory infection I've had since the Pryor show, so am going to skip it.

Making a late start this morning. Nice weather... wish the wind would quiet down. V. and I finished listening to a book on tape called One Hundred Cupboards (heard most of it on our cross-Oklahoma drive). DH took us to see Rango last night. We laughed ourselves silly. It was interesting that we had the same favorite character, and it wasn't Rango. Ticket prices are way too high, and concession prices are, well, I think it's accurate to say concessionaires are brigands. The markup ought to be illegal. Moviegoers are likely to hide snacks and drinks in over-sized handbags to avoid being robbed at the concession stand.

Yay, good for you. Glad the cardinal made it. They are forever running into our windows, sometimes they hit so hard I can't believe the window doesn't break.

Someone else will give you more information, but P.O.O.P.S. is "People Of Oklahoma Poultry Swap," an annual get together established in 2009. It is a vey family-oriented, one-day event that involves individual selling and swapping, an auction, a big potluck lunch, events for the kids, educational demonstrations, and much more. This year it will be May 14 at Fletcher. Hope you'll join us!
