Was at the computer around 5 yesterday and heard a loud bang at the back door, which is three rooms away. Thought it was Vashi coming in, so didn't go check. Few minutes later started out to feed and water the flock, and sitting on the back porch was a lovely female Cardinal. Picked her up with no struggle, but she was making a strange "crunchy" sound in her throat. Poked holes in a shoe box lid, added pine chips and put her in to keep her calm and quiet. When Vashi came in, he added a small container of water and some sunflower seeds. Checked her later; no movement except eyes, but the sound had stopped. This morning took the box to the front porch (no cat or dog near), opened the lid, and she flew off! Beautiful sight!!
Was planning to go to the Guy Rose auction again Saturday morning, but can't shake this cough left from the upper respiratory infection I've had since the Pryor show, so am going to skip it.
