You have found a wonderful group of folks who either live in Oklahoma or wish they lived in Oklahoma.

Sounds like you are well on your way to becoming addicted to chicken ownership.

You will be in good company on this thread

Welcome to Oklahoma - where folks are friendly and the weather changes constantly

As Sooner indicated, you can call the phone number in my signature line to get your birds tested by the Department of Agriculture. You can also ask about becoming a certified tester when you call that number. Beginner classes are generally held in Oklahoma City and will be in May this year. The phone number is 405-522-6139

Tell us about your birds. Do you show them?

Good morning everyone and thank you for the warm welcome

We have only been here a short while but already love it! I have Black Copper Marans, Silver Laced Wyandotte, Blue Laced Wyandotte, Speckled Sussex, Lavender Orpingtons, and Silkies. I am addicted to hatching and have a full incubator of eggs! I do plan on showing but have not yet.

We would have loved to have come to the last auction. the weather has been nice and we are tired of hibernating. But our middle son turned 15 on Saturday so figured we would spend the day doing what he wanted.

Hey carterfamily - someone else may already have answered, but just in case, here is my two cents: Ventilation would be great - not only for the chicks, but for anyone who goes into that room! Keeping a brooder in the house can get stinky fast.
