Hi everyone I'm live here in Durant. I used to have chickens when I was kid and have always wanted to have some again. I have 10 Plymouth Rock hens and 1 PR Roo coming in April. I'm so excite.

Just got back in from checking on the chickens. Got everything done just before I got cold. Husband has been muttering about me getting "too many chickens" but weather like this ensures I am close to my max. These are fun but more would be work.
Ha! you should see my plans for my grow out pen - It has 4 breeding pens in it.

Only my head roo was out of the coops. He was on the top of his, crowing away like every morning. The other guys, still inside their coops, were glad someone else was incharge for once. Even crazy Thelma and Louise were in their coop, not roosting on top as usual.

Welcome!
I've only had chickens since June, I love them and have met the NICEST folks. Maybe the world would be a better place if everybody owned chickens!

Wow sounds like you all are really getting slammed hard back there. Its nice and balmy here this morning. But the temp is supposed to drop tonight and get really cold.
BanJoe you better check on those fresh layed eggs evrey little bit today, they will freeze fast. I bet you start that incubator up now, gotta hatch those C.Sussex!
Have you all heard of the Key West Chickens? I have found some for sle, thing is they are two hours away(one direction!). But the guy has a roo and three pullets for $25,with additional smaller ones for $5. I would like to have some but can't decide if its worth the trip. Price is fine. But after all they are just chickens that have gone wild in Florida and are all mixed up. He has certificates stating that they are from a Key West rescue. I always liked the breeds taht have no standard color or pattern so they interest me. Even tho they aren't nessicaryly a"breed" they are recognized as a "breed" by some people. So what do think, should I or not?
