So I bundled up real well and went out. I guess the coop passed the test. The girls were good, actually roosting (I figured they would be on the ground with the hay) They quickly hopped down when I put the cracked corn in and there were two frozen eggs in one of the nestboxes! (only have two hens, so they both layed), did not expect that! They even went outside a few minutes and went back in.

So I have these two frozen eggs, they are cracked, can I thaw them and use them? Or are they trash?

LYNN --- sorrry i did not answer last night was waching the movie RED with the boys it is pretty good any way i have two GQF 1502s (sportsman) they only take 5 min to heat up and they keep het verry well if you have the 1500 or 1200 or the 1202 you will need to let it keep a steady temp before setting as far as the eggs if you gethered them before they froze they should be fine i hach one tray every week i load one tray this week then load the next the next week andthen the next then i put the first week in the hacher and start all over again good luck and happy haching BANJO

babyrnlc I have read on here that some will go ahead & use them if they aren't dirty.

I forgot to check for eggs when I went out yesterday evening, so if I had any they are for sure frozen

Joe - I posted a few pages back. DH looked at the weather predicted for Inola on Saturday. He said with temps between 30 and 40, he thinks we should stay home. He's the man with the 4WD truck, so that means I'm not going to Chupps. I was looking forward to talking with you.

These eggs are from this morning. I checked at 4 yesterday and they usually only lay late morning early afternoon. I only got an egg from the cornish yesterday (the easter egger did not lay yesterday).

It is so weird, my cornish lays better than my ee! She has only missed one day since we have had her, even during a blizzard! (The EE only missed two, the first day and yesterday)

The eggs that we are hatching out are from the guy that gave us the hens. So the eggs could be from the girls. I am gonna check the ones that look like the ones that they lay and try and keep those chicks, these have been great! There are some olive eggs, green ones and light brown. We are keep at least two hens (if we get that many)

Just put the eggs in a bowl on the counter and when they thaw, you can use them as normal. I wouldn't try and save them for more than a day or two. You are cooking them, so any bacteria will be killed.

Good Morning Okies!!! Jessie and Dakota re outside doing morning chores as we speak! It is cold and not as windy today, will get out a little later and fire up the tractor and clear out the snow drifts in front of the cars and down the drive and to the mailbox. Please be careful out today the wind chill and temps are still dangerous! I was nominated to do the cooking today so I guess I should get some breakfast started!!! Have a blessed day all!!! Lynn

Woohoo! These will be the first we have eaten! With only two hens, mom and I are saving them to have omlets one day. I have 6 children still at home and with them out of school, we gotta save a lot of eggs lol. (One is a 17 yr old boy, he can eat 6 or 7 himself lol)
