Starting to snow in SE Oklahoma City

My brother called our Mom on Wed and said he had snow over his truck tires. They live near Okmulgee. He is hoping to get out of his drive way sometime today.

All the schools closed around here today because of the winter mix. Still see grass, but the roads are terrible.

We now live in what was sunny and warm SE Arkansas!

Well, I had thought about advertising my CSA vegetable basket on here but seems most everyone is pretty far from me, only a few close enough and it sounds like most of them have that under control. Just in case, I grow 100% organic veggies and sell @ the Choctaw farmers Market. This year I will be offering a few diff. options. I have a $50.00 and $100.00 basket deal, they both include the same amnt of veggies only diff. is 1 is a weekly pic up and the other is bi-weekly. They are for the months of july and Aug. Both are a $30.00 value basket picked up either 4 or 8 weeks. Fell free to ask q's if nec.

Do customers pick what goes into the basket, or are the baskets already filled and customers just pick them up?

Everyone be careful if your getting out on those roads this morning. I'm sure not much has melted. Has anyone heard how the rescue yeterday came out?Hope they all got out okay. We have a wintry mix comming in today!
I do believe spring is comming early. The robins have returned here already! And even tho its been so cold the bushes are budding pretty good. Amasing how they can do the when the temps are so low.

My bird feeders(wild) have been really busy. I must be feeding a hundred canaries! lots of purple house finches(which are really red) ,and all kinds of field type sparrows and at least twenty doves at a time.. I only feed thistle and sunflower so it usually keeps the nasty birds away, although I did see a pair of cow birds this morning. Hate those horrible little birds!Funny thing is the doves are after the little thistle seeds. You would think they would eat the bigger seeds.

Hi BYC friends!
Dang long time no post, nearly freaked when I saw the number of posts.

Thanks Monty for the opening post, kept looking around for the other thread, wondering if I had lost my mind (as those who know me can attest it is something that is already lost). But here we are all safe and sound on a new thread. YEAH!!!

So how is everyone doing. From the post I have read we have a lot of new members.

Yeah!! I heard someone mention POOPS and was wondering what I can do to help get that going. Anything I can do just let me know, I miss seeing everyone. Life has been so full of chaos lately, I just work, come home, take care of the critters and go to bed, then get up and do it again. Hoping things are going to start calming down.

Ok so who is sick of this weather ??? I thought the next storm was not supposed to come in til Monday. Holy crap I am getting cabin fever bad. Might have to go out and see if I can get the car unburied so I can go some where, any where just to get out for a bit.

Good thing

Hope everyone is braving the storm well. We are doing fine here. Had a couple of casualties; one being a little hen who got too close to the fence and darn critter got her head and the other was a little rooster who looks to have gotten smashed in the middle of the night. Other then that everyone is ok. I have totally enclosed the chicken yard now. It has been dubbed "Chicken Fort Knots". We got hit hard again this year by ??? and they killed 7 of my turkeys and a number of chickens and two peacocks. Still have more work to do and expanding but once it is all done I am going to have a chicken city in the back yard.

Well I am going to go and water the animals. yeah......

Muffs are like feathery sideburns! They connect to the same looking beards. Tuffs are hard feathers, although short, that tend to stick straight out the side of the head like an appendage. Most will have only one of these sticking out but some will have one on each side. Once you see a tuff its easy to know the difference. Muffs are much fuller and tuffst narrow and sticking straight out. Hope this is as clear as mud!lol
Also usually if a bird has tuffs it will be rumpless.

Hi Rebecca,
I've been thinking about you. So sorry to hear about your birds, it got even peacocks! I keep seeing everyone's pictures of thier beautiful Ameraucanas and thinking about our bantam Favarolles - got to have some beards but don't like pea or rose combs. I saw that someone was selling some eggs on the "Eggs for sale' thread. I would be breaking my "Cochins Only" rule. I also yearn for a pair of LF Buff Cochin, ( calling Stephanie and Karl) - they are still Cochins after all. Dangerous, Dangerous, Dangerous thoughts! This snow needs to go away so I can get back to work!
