My husband just told me that on Wednesday we are going get 5-10 more inches of snow! REALLY! MY poor van is never gonna get out again. WE are driving around in the mitsubishi that will most definitely not fit my husband, myself and my 6 children!

Kathy, you have some beautiful chickens!!! I think the Islandics are cool looking, they remind me of the Dutch Bantums! The Lemon blue roo you had in the one pic with the top knotted one is gorgeous! Is there any type of club for them or a group of breeders for them? How did you get you start of them? You seem to be very interested in preserving breeds? I am very partial to my Game chickens and like the chalenge of working with the blue color pattern, I have Toppy, Dom, Pumpkin Hulsey and Red Claret/Hatch games and I love the unusual breeds, I am sortof a preservation minded breeder to. Thanks for sharing! May want some eggs or chicks from the Islandics!!! Are you planning to attend the POOPS this Spring??? Lynn

I would love to get more people involved in the preservation effort with the Icelandics. It is estimated there were only 3,000 of them in the WORLD. The agreement with this group I am involved with is that we do not make money with these birds. We share what we have, and donations go straight to Iceland to the "Save the Icelandics Fund."

We do request that these birds not be crossed with others, simply because it would be such a shame to lose their genetics, ya know? Of course, once they are out of our hands we have no say so. But we do our best with screening potential interested folks. Does that make sense?

So Kathy are you saying to get a start of the Icelandics I need to contact this group or can I get a start from you? Are there any type of standards in progress with them? Do you breed them as to what you get or do you do a selective breeding for what you like out of the birds you have such as selecting for color or patterns or the top knot or not? I think it would be interested in more information on these, I am wanting to get some of the Key West Gypsies also! I think I would enjoy raiseing the rare breeds!!! What do you do with your eggs and baby chicks you hatch from them? Lynn

SWEET!!!! Ok so count me in, but let me get some pens set up just for them. I really like that blue roo you showed, do you have chicks out of him and the top knotted one??? I will keep in touch on these, would you mind keeping me in the loop as to your chick development, maybe some pics of the chicks as they progress? Maybe we can shoot for the POOPS to meet and me get some chicks or eggs to get a start of them??? That will give me time to get set up good for them.
