Thanks. Yeah, that's pretty much my thinking of late. Raise a few Freedom Rangers for discriminating palate, then CX for the rest. There are some pros over in the meat bird forum who give good advice on how to get them to grow out more humanely than the factory farm birds (12 on 12 off feeding rather than lighted feeding 24/7, for instance). When Al gets his sustainable meat bird breed off and running I'll switch to those in a heartbeat, but for now I just need to get something that I can sell at a reasonable price in a reasonable time frame at the market.

Thanks for the encouragement!!

My ladies were stating to lay pretty good until all the cold weather, now I am getting maybe 1 egg a day. We were letiting them out all day but now we wait until about 4pm for a couple of hours. I cannot locate any hidden nest amywheres so i do not know what is happening. no signs of any slithery creature.

Any suggestions?

She said okie dokie!

Wayne thanks so much! I thought you had some but thought you only had the long snake one's! I have a place picked out to plant them, the last time I planted them I think I got happy with the weed eater before I realized what I was doing. One quick question, do I have to worry about them re-seeding? That could make a difference where I plant. oh do they do better in full sun or partial?

Not hard to get behind around here. I only missed a few hours & was 3pages behind.

Looks like I will be at science camp tomorrow (over nighter) with alot of kids. To bad I can't mix in a chicken event at the same time. LOL. I seriously considered it.

They will do good either place,in full sun you may need to keep them watered. As long as you keep the gourds picked up they won't reseed. Very few varietys can survive the Okla. winters, Oh and they look like squash or watermellon when they sprout so you don't weedeat them!lol

LOL, that was one of those years that I planted all kinds of stuff & just forgot that I had planted them & weedeated them before I even got gourds on the vine.

I'm a mess I know.
