Oh man! Prayers for a Mennonite family in Hopkinsville,Ky.lady was crossing a creek in a buggy and flash flood got them, lost three children,6months-to five years! Mother and older children managed to get out. How awful.
Hopkinsville is not far from Elkton where I go to the poultry sale.

Very, very sad.

m.ruzycki :

good morning okies, that was a pretty good rain we just had here in choctaw. Hope I can get some more raised beds built in the garden. So much to do, so little time. Finally got around to starting some tomato seeds, almost 600 so far.

I will need to find you at the Choctaw farmer's market this summer, for certain. That's a lot of tomato plants. Will you be selling tomato plants in addition to selling tomatoes later in the season?

m.ruzycki :

Al- Im gettin some meaties and have a few questions. How much do you usually get yours to weigh? How much feed will one eat in 8-10 wks? How much are they worth after they have been dressed and whats the avg. Dressed weight? Ive seen whole chickens for $5 a lb at the okfood co-op.

If the chickens at the co-op say "Aunt Nellies chicken" they are grown and processed by the D.A.R.P. facility in Tahlequah and they deliver frozen chickens to OKC several times a month - usually for $1.50 per lb.

Just got my laptop back yesterday - after replacement of the video card, the hard drive and processor. I am now getting it set up again with all my favorite places and passwords. I initially couldn't figure out why the Okies thread had over 400 pages, until I realized I wasn't "logged in" so was viewing BYC as a guest with 25 or fewer posts per page.

I sure am glad to have this thing back.

I'm not computer literate, but it's condition was fatal apparently, so he got a lap top, we were wanting to get away from the one computer and change to two lap tops anyway. He didn't get two today, just the one b/c I am determined to get my new camera lens!!!!!

Lynn - I put our meeting at Lowe's in Muskogee at noon on Saturday on my calendar. I've got a travel cage in the truck for the roo next to the box for the eggs from the Barnevelders that I've been collecting this week for you. Whew! Looks like student writing. My girls are slow starting this season. I'm getting one Barnevelder egg to ten everything else. I haven't had enough from them to check fertility, so if they don't grow, let me know and I'll get you some more.

We had a tornado watch in Haskell for most of the day. Wind and rain was all we got. I'm hoping we don't see a repeat tomorrow. The Pekins are jazzed. They got to go swimming in the rain. Perfect duck weather.

Robin - I'll let you know early next week what I've found out about hotels. John said with three adults going I should take his mammoth truck. Would it be okay with you and Dave if we take the Dodge? It's got a double cab, so nobody has to sit with knees tucked in. I'm still so enamored with my little Tacoma that I didn't even think about the Dodge until DH mentioned it. The bed is larger, too, so there's more room for overnight bags and cages.
