donnie came to my rescue on these two- the dark one a cockerell from Betsy, the buff hen is from Peaches-

in reading alot online and comparing images i am not as freaked as i was- other than the financial end of it!

So I am not so impressed with what the post office did to a box of shipped eggs I got today. Fortunately they were well packed and only one out of eight was cracked. Time will show if the others are still viable. Normally the mail carrier brings boxes marked "Fragile" to the door, but I can see why she didn't want to today.

In better news, I got the big coop cleaned out yesterday and hauled out three wheelbarrow loads of deep litter to the compost bins. The whole place got a good bleaching, fresh bedding and a DE dusting. When I finally opened the pop door, the hens let me hear all about it as they immediately went for the nest boxes. For whatever reason, our rooster prefers not to to roost with his ladies and his teenage kids usually cuddle up with him at night in the corner.

Thanks Al for having my back! Hope you had a happy birthday. Sorry I wasn't around or concious enough when I was to wish you the best!

Hey Monty Don't even think about it !!!! we are all worried and thinking of you, we are all delighted to hear things worked out.

I got a few Hatching now, just 4 odd dated ones that I staggered. I will say one super wierd thing is I have a chick that hatched that was Black and white and it came from my pure white Rock pen, no chance of anything being tainted in any way LOL, he is starting to lighten up but still he shouldn't have looked like this, Oh well frying pan city or I may just make a layer of her if it's a she.

They're actually Olive Eggers and Frizzles. The Frizzles are supposed to have a chance of being NN, so if they hatch out I was planning on bringing them to POOPS.

If they were Buckeye eggs, you would probably be seeing my face on the news.

yeah that happens sometimes Al. especially when dealing with Dominant white and Silver white. The chciks almost always grow out to be white in full but do not sun brass as badly. I would toe punch the bird and keep a close eye on it coming up.
