I don't think there is an official list of who is bringing what.
The best way to do it is just post what you are looking for and what you might be bringing.
People will let you know.
There are some pigeon fanatics here. Teach, Okiedoodle, Micaheldaugherty and Greybear are the ones that come to mind.
Michaeldaugherty probably has call ducks too.
I have had a good day. I got up early and moved my 3 week-old Atwoods chicks out to the hutch outside - I hope they are feathered out enough to take the weather. They don't seem huddled or uncomfortable, and I have them safely protected from the wind and rain. I can always set a light up for them if it gets cold again. I'm thinking maybe the two chipmunks I got from Atwoods might be Welsumers instead of Dark Cornish, as they have single combs instead of pea combs. That would be a good deal. I think the Dark Cornish are beautiful but they don't lay enough for my liking. A couple of the other Atwoods peeps I was hoping were Australorps may be Jersey Giants instead.
Then I cleaned out the brooder in the garage really good and got it ready for the "Real chicks" I've been waiting for - the ones Poco Pollo hatched for me! I met her today and she brought me 10 Ameraucana chicks - blue, black and splash - and two...SPECKLED SUSSEX chicks!! The SS were a surprise and I am so excited! I've been sitting in the garage much of the afternoon watching all these peeps sleep - they seem worn out from hatching and traveling and they snuggled down under the heat lamp and conked out. I can't wait to see what colors some of them turn out. A couple have tiny feathers that seem kind of salmon or peachy colored, but with blue tips. So pretty!
Lil'Sooner did well in her show. She won showmanship & placed as follows.
Mottled Cochin hen- 2nd
OEGB Silver duckwing cock- 2nd
RIR Cock-1st
Modern Lemonblue hen- 1st & best of breed
Modern brown red- 2nd
Phoenix hen- 2nd
Barred rock hen-3rd
Following that she had a soccer game where they lost 3-0. She played really well considering we are both dead on our feet. The other team was a really good team.
I spoke with one of the guys that helped run the auction & he said the bid numbers were in the 160's & I know there were alot that didn't even get numbers. I'm not good at guessing crowds but I would say that there were at least another 75 or more that didn't get numbers. I was surprised!
Good job Maddy! Wonderful about the showmanship!we are all so proud of you. Did anyone notice if Joes boy did any good?
Hey City, isn,t it fun to watch the new baby's just nod fall over! I had 38 hatch out in my friends incubator. Very good assortment, silkies,ee,turken, comets, and a few standard ee in blue! They are so cute and colorful. My silkie trio that I had was a mix of buff and partridge and the chicks are all colors,!
Went to the local sale today. Not much there but I did pick up a nice pair of re Cochin bantams. I am not to fond of Cochins but always liked the red ones for some reason.
Then I came home and mowed the yard for the first time this year.
I know that Joe's son had one breed champ or reserve but I will have to let him post about that. I do good to keep up with Maddie most of the time & today being so tired I wasn't on top of my game. Joe's wife brought Dustin & Joe went to another auction, can't wait to hear how he did.
