Deena - hope your son is okay and that it is just a sprain. I saw that your DC is a good layer - lucky you! At least you are feeling better today.

That is a horrible way to spend such a pretty morning. Hope it is just sprained.

My day isn't going to be as good as I planned either, after church I was going to work in the soon to be garden, and this evening I was going to try and get some moon shots (still may be able to do that) but instead I'm still stuck at work until 8pm tonight.

Morning all, have chicks hatching yesterday and today, my gilt that was pregnant only had one pig and it was dead, don't know what the deal was but she was young and it was here first time so maybe she didn't take good. will try her again, just be later on getting pigs on the ground, I cut my sow herd down to two sows and sold three, kept my boar and have 4 pigs feeding out and two young pigs that one is sold and one may end up as dinner at Poops!!! Hope all has a blessed day!!! Lynn

Good morning all! Doing laundry, laundry and more laundry! It's amazing how much laundry 4 kids can accumulate in 2 days. My new ameracana from mike @ Blanchard is now out and about and flirting with the hens!

For you Naked Neck lovers, I have a black mottled NN bantam hen that is a beauty I am going to let go of. She lays up a storm and is a good mama to boot. If any of you are interested in here, let me know...I will be puttin her on Craigslist as well...

Beautiful day today...watered the garden. Peas, spinach beets are up and the transplants are doing great.

The "boys" put together sorting pens for the cattle since tagging/banding and shots workday is coming soon before the herd is split out to the lease pastures.

They were going to move my growout pen into the west end of the barn but were simply worn out. The little chicks are now almost three weeks old and ready for more room. They are already jumping up high enough to reach the chicken wire cover on the 24w by 60L by 30H water trough that has been their current brooder box. The growout pen will have to be moved tomorrow. It is a 6 by 8 foot pen with a 5 foot dome roof and sits on the concrete floor with a thick layer of wood shavings. I will keep a heat lamp attached inside the pen to give them a warm corner. Chicks always love to jump and fly up to the roost bars 2 feet off the floor. With the barn door shut at night, they chicks are safe from predators and during the day get the benefit of great sunlight.

There are some unidentified chicks in the 15 Atwoods babies, but the Polish are getting their top hats and the others are feathering out nicely. All have voracious appetites!

Isn't Spring Grand!!
