I was wanting to put her under a good spangled old english cock, see if I could get some spangled NN but decided that would be next thing to sacrilegious...

thats a fact...oh well, we will never know now...I am lookin around to see if I can find any good mottled hens that I can run under my spangled cockbird, maybe get a little more tail spread...what do genes mottled look like?

ok, im not in a hurry, I have some pretty decent spangles to start with...do you find that the rooster or the hen contributes to the tail spread and tail carriage more? Or is it just a crap shoot

For male lines you want good tail carriage in both sexes, for hen lines you want a high tail carriage in the male. For tail spread you will find it closely related to carriage, if teh brood cock has high tail carriage you get better tail spread in the offspring but when possible use well spread breeders.

ok, both males have good tail spread, and a couple of the hens have pretty good tail spread, the others are not pinched but could be wider...I think I am gonna just go with what I have and selectively replace my breeders when I get improvement...
