I remember canning when I was a kid but haven't done it since. I will be trying this year with my mom's recipes.

I think from talking to her that she primiarly stuck with jelly, jam, preserves, marmalades, relishes, and pickles.

My grandma canned more green beans than anything. Interesting.

I think she is overly cautious, which is fine by me. at least i wont learn anything the wrong way...lol

Some of the best times I've ever had was in the garden picking veggies and getting them ready for mom to can.

Growing up they would get 1/2 a beef and then with what was canned there were very few trips to the store.

A friend & I were just talking about canning deer meat. I don't think I have ever had canned meat.
