Ok so the Splash that she has would be called a sport? Why do they have to change things? They are a splash in everyother color varitiy aren't they? I'm a mess tonight.

I would say 99% of all the off colored birds you see from a blue variety would be considered a splash, there are very very few true sports... I have 3 hens here that are true sports, and I consider myself VERY fortunate to have found them, two blue brassy sport hens, and one blue spangle sport, she does have a tiny bit of off color but very little...and then I have a very nice lemon blue splash rooster, he is the best one I have seen and the closest to being a sport but he isnt...

I could be wrong, but I think of "sport" colors in chickens like a "crop-out" color in horses. Every now and then you get one that doesn't throw what you thought. I think it would still be a splash color, but because it wasn't expected from that genetic pairing, it's called a sport - (or crop-out).

They are probably the most studied chicken that there is plus when other studies are done NNs are usually used as the control group.

I could be wrong, but I think of "sport" colors in chickens like a "crop-out" color in horses. Every now and then you get one that doesn't throw what you thought. No, when you breed a blue over a blue, you can count on getting around 25% splash or sport, everyone has their own terminology on it...they are expected, that is why a lot of people dont breed blue varieties, and even fewer breed blue over blue. You breed a brown red to a lemon blue, you only get brown red and lemon blue, no sports, you only get sports with blue on blue, or if you breed a sport to a blue, or sport to sport...or splash, however you prefer...
