LOL I have good Insurance so I got heated blankets hehehehee. My wife told me the first thing I said when I got out of recovery was that there were paper towels on sale in the cafeteria LOL, don't ask me.

Oohhh I love the heated blankets. They did that for me when I had my back surgery cuz it took a while for me to be able to regulate my body temperature after the operation. I will throw my thermal blankets in the dryer just so I can have a warm blanket, especially on cold nights. *sign*

Now thats a good wife always thinking of ways to save money ..

Enjoying watching the baby chicks with the mama hen. I never cease to be enchanted by the way the chicks come when called by the hen and the way they stay close to her in the yard.

On another note, if it weren't for the wind, it would feel too hot to be outside. Isn't this April?

While I am waiting to leave for auction going to build a new feeder. It is a new design I came up with. If it works I will give you all directions on how to build one. I hope it works like I think it will.

If it does it will save on feed, be easy to fill and clean.

what causes a young hen to have chronic soft shell eggs? i keep finding one in the morning- and what do you do with a hen who's neck is plucked bare? she was barny's fav, so looks like she is trying the nn look

Robin, I was thinking the same thing regarding the temperatures. It seems mighty early for 90 degree temps. I clicked on the Nevada thread by accident since it was below the Okie thread - they were talking about receiving snow earlier this week!

The hen with the bare neck is likely at the bottom of the social totem pole and gets attention from the roo more frequently than the other hens. I wonder if a childs sock, with the toe cut out, could be slipped over her head to protect her feathers?

Had a great visit from cuban and Donnie today, really enjoyed see them, I got 10 for 10. On my NN's today they are a bunch of laying fools.
We were pretty hot for awhile then the wind came back up and it cooled just a little.
Hope everyone has fun at the auction tonight

Robin - I think Maribeth's idea using a sock is worth trying.

I'm in on the "not getting eggs today" crowd. I got a Pekin, two EE, a Barnevelder and one RIR. I should have had at least a dozen. Guinea's are alarming. I'd better make sure it's just a "you've got wind" alarm.
