Do you want to breed from it anytime soon? If so wait if it's no big deal then here you go... Elevate the feed protien level to 20-28% for two weeks. Following that reduce feed protien to 15% and restrict light to 10 hrs a day.. wait 1 week then wait 8 weeks for feathers to re-appear.

ya, I will probably just wait, they will come in when they come in, it is a very nice little hen, would like some chicks from it before hot weather hits....thats too bad about that pen sjarvis, some wind, huh?

last winter I bought what I was told was 1 rooster and 4 pullets(From someone who has had chickens awhile). It was late and the light was fading so I mostly took their word for it. A month later I noticed he was taller and his comb was bigger, figured him for a cockerel then. He looks like he might be better colored than the other one of that breed so he is still around.

He is on the left in my avatar I believe.

The problem with some cookbooks is that they don't explain things well.

I have witnessed the mess caused by too much cake/brownie in too small a pan. Takes awhile to clean up.

I think some roosters take longer to mature than others. I periodically take my extra roos to Michael and lo and behold, I saw another roo in the laying flock today. Either I didn't recognize it as a roo until after all the competition was removed, or someone is tossing roos over the fence into my backyard.

You are right about "due time"! I've been in this house for almost 11 years and it has taken all that time to get the outside to this point, which is not nearly finished (and probably never will be!). Notice I never show inside of the house...I am NOT domestic in the least. I'm from a small family where both of us kids were required to do the outside chores - the animals and gardens, etc. Neither of us learned anything about cleaning or cooking or sewing or keeping a house. My brother was fortunate enough to find a wife who excels at those things. I much prefer the outdoor activities, and the only thing I like doing in the kitchen is canning. You'll think this is funny: during my first couple of weeks at college I took my laundry down to the dorm basement to do the wash, and it wasn't until I was standing in front of the washing machine that I suddenly realized I had never done a load of laundry in my life. I had to call home and ask how to do it. My mom was not patient when I finally called and asked how to cook - she sent me an old copy of Better Homes & Gardens cookbook with a note that read simply: "If you can read, you can cook. Love, Mom"

You have a beautiful home. I like how the new tree makes it look so refreshed and modern.

Brahma hackle feathers are a dead give away. As they are for many breeds.

Your address is written on bathroom walls at poultry auctions across the state as a place for unwanted roo's!
