They are enjoying not having to share with the chickens and now, since they are away from the driveway, they will stop screaming at the trash truck and the UPS man and every other unsuspecting motorist that happens to drive by.

believe it or not, i really miss the scream of my mom's peacock, and the guinea's as well

i can't talk DH into getting a few... he says we're pushing our luck with the two roosters.

I love the sound of our guineas and peafowl. Our peafowl sound like a goose squawking.

He has a pretty comb.
Around my house, you have to either be nice or be tasty. Have you tried flying lessons for him? Like across the yard and launched with your boot? That is the first "lesson" I give roosters to try and adjust their attitude.

yes we have a few times. biggest problem is thee way he is with the hens and my other rooster, if he wasn't so pretty i'd eat him.

interesting questions... i have 1 rir hen, and 3 red shavers (i think), that some of the hatchlings are from. there are a few of the month olds that are gonna be hens, but have his comb (i was told in another thread he's an ee, does that mean that the eggs will maybe have a bit of a blueish green hue to them, or would they still be the light-medium brown?

Hatcheries breed quantity, not quality. In almost all breeding programs that I know of his best friends would be dumplings. Breeders of quality look for the traits and shapes that make these birds what they are and they will not tolerate a "man fighter" Not even in game breeds.

Imagine covering a six pound, or more, bowling ball with razor blades and then throwing it at someone. Don't sound too healthy to me.

He appears to have a bit of a muff and with the slate grey legs, could well be an EE. Red shavers (I had to look them up because I was unfamiliar with the breed) are supposed to have redish brown eggs. Since the green egg gene is dominant, crossing an EE roo with a Red Shaver would likely hatch a hen that will lay greenish eggs, in my opinion, since if you cross an EE with a maran, you get olive eggers.

so, that would be why he's aggressive? i've been flogged by him twice. i'm the only one (other then a neighbor man that taunts him) that he has flogged. he just comes at other people.

that's what i was thinking. it'll be nice to have greenish eggs. the rs hens i have lay a pinkish medium brown right now... maybe they aren't rs then... when i bought them they (atwoods) only listed 3 on stickers on the tub they were in. i also had 2 ee hens and they weren't listed on the stickers. frustrating not knowing for sure what they are. rir, jersey giants and cochin were the only ones listed. i'm thinking blacky is a jg because of her coloring and such

I am a little surprised he is aggressive toward you, but not toward others. Usually, a roo that has been hand fed will bond with the person who feeds it and be agressive toward folks other than the feeder, almost like he is territorial about the person who feeds him.
