you can keep them going for a bit, but have to limit their food intake and make sure they get out and moving, they are bred to put on weight fast, and from what i have heard you are lucky if they last past 4 months- their hearts can't handle the strain- we have one named tatortot, and am hoping she will have a happy life- sadly it will be short- look up a member named gritstar- she has managed to keep hers up through laying

Actually I think that it is the Hubbard line of meaties that are owned by a pharmacutical company so they must be pretty good layers. They probably use them to produce vaccine. The other main meatie breed is the Cobb.

so when you buy from a feed store, they are probably a cobb?? feel sorry for tator- but am amazed at the speed of her growth

That's all they are for.

Right, but that is NOT what they are for. They are for dinner and that's it.

Well, lunch too, I guess.

Got Game ,know it well, I worked at a cabinet factory in Gentry for 10 years! You mentioned wanting to try pycheons , Dandelion on hear has some. Hoping she will be able to bring some to poops. I have about 8-10. Hatched out so far. But my roo doesn't have a crest. I posted a pic on the pycheon thread and the resident "expert" shot me down all to he@@! Said with no crest he was worthless and they had the wrong color of legs! Funny thing is they came from hinkjc who originally started them in the U.S.!you can see his on Feathersite. So I still love mine, and hope to get a crested roo to mate back to the hen.

I'm getting super excited about POOPS! Can't wait to meet those of you I haven't met in person yet, plus all those feathers!!!!!!!!
I am making some chicken themed dog scarves. Anyone want some? Tell me the sizes of your dogs. The $ is low and all of it goes to POOPS. Pictures to come.
