Made it thru another wet night. It rained gully washers again.or should I say driveway washers!lol. Lots of wind damage south of us. Another line comming thru about noon! So much water in so few days! May have to bale the yard this week!
After all of this rain we have water standing everywhere. I hope it dries up by this weekend. I need to mow and build some chicken pens and coops, and plant the garden..

Hi MJ
Sorry to hear about your loss. I have had the same things happen.
Good news the eggs I gave you are definitely fertile. All the ones under my hen are developing and I had my first millie chick hatch but it is mostly white. Not sure what is up with that. Do they usually get their color in when they get their feathers in?
After the first I will save up eggs for you unless you would like me to give you chicks. I will have one hatching pretty much ever 3 or 4 days now for the next three weeks. I stuck all my millie eggs under my showgirl hen who has been just dying to brood. Gave her a nice nesting box (aka llama food container they broke the lid on), stuck eggs under her and she is happy as can be.
Really wish we hadn't eaten those 12 mille eggs for breakfast last Saturday! - I still have 21 of that roo's chicks already hatched and the oldest cockerel is starting to grow some hackle and saddle feathers that are vermillion with white tips like his dad.
Yes, alot of mille fleur cochin chicks are wheaton downed with a hint of orange. Some are chipmonk patterend and they all change ALOT. So far the mille fleur cochin breeders have been trying to keep track of the chick developement but it still is just about impossible to tell. Some of the chicks from my #2 roo and my mille hen with the most buff have more grey than is good but it is still too early to tell.
I am hatching the mottled girl's eggs she is laying now. She is with my 2nd roo that is from YonderOak like my hens. I still plan on giving the Mottled girl to you if you want her.
If you want we can swap chicks when they are about 2 mo. old or so. We can pick matches to try to get red hackled roos and hens with alot of chevrons.
I have seven eggs under my showgirl hen, all seem to be developing but only 5 will have time to hatch before POOPS. Still I will swap you some chicks for the mottled hen. The little one that hatched is so sweet. I put the smallest LF silver laced cochin I got at the auction and the smallest blue ameraucana with it and they all seem to be getting along great. I am hoping another will be hatching today or tomorrow. Of the ones I am going to keep I will take the hens and put them with Milton my really nice millie roo. That should get more patterning and darker coloring.
So far this year the hatching has been pretty good. Next weekend I should have a bunch blue, black and splash ameraucanas hatching. I am going to have to start sorting out the ones I want to keep and the ones to go. Right now I have at least two black cockerals and a silver/wheaten pullet and a gimpy blue pullet I am getting rid of.
My gimpy blue ameraucana chick is getting around really good but I am not sure what to do with her. Since I do not know what caused her to be that way I do not want to breed her and she is really sweet so I hate to cull her. Anyone want an ameraucana hen for egg laying only? She is real pretty and is very calm when being held. As long as she is not going to be food or bred, she is free. She is about 6 weeks old right now but is growing very fast. Should be a big hen who may be a good broody if she is anything like her mother.
