Its a nice day here I got the BIG pit fired up and have 3 briskets smoking just put a little mop on them and they are looking good.

just got back from my 'mandatory out time' with the chickens and tinkerbelle the female dog, the roo is alot more alert- as are the hens- the dog, tink, is doing good, she seems to know its more fun to chase critters that aren't feathered- so i am standing there and she is doing the casual canine act and all of a sudden her nose comes up and she races to the creek in the woods, exactly where i lost olive- she disappears- about 15 minutes later i hear her in the distance barking- i think she may be letting the critters know she is loose during the day and the buffet is closed! very satisfying, so the chickens got to dig around for an hour or so and are happily dusting in the run- haven't tried buddy with the chickens yet-

Great robin! At least maybe they will not be so bold as to show up in the day time now. And now the dogs are working for their keep. You may only have to get rid of only one!

told dave we have a night crew- buddy- and a day crew- tink- so they will be making sure most the wildlife is on edge- wish i hadn't lost olive and chubbs- but won't lose any more if i can help it! still

Hey Wayne what are you using for pigeon nests / nest boxes I have tried a few things and my homers are laying but the eggs keep getting kicked out or more than one bird gets in and then eggs get broke. DeAnn's ringneck doves are using plastic coffee cans and some old plastic pots from some trees we planted with pretty good succes but I think they will be too small for pigeons.

I just have an assortment of homemade nest boxes. In a pinch ,milk crates are good,just put a board across lower part of front and line bottom with paper and put in some strawor hay. I don't like pine needles like they say to use,to many slide out of the nest. Pigeons aren't picky. Only rule is Do not put nest beside each other. Place them in a line up and down. If they are beside each other one male will tkae over several.Space rows at least two feet apart or place walls between rows. Homers need at least 10x10. Pop cartes are good to,you can divide the nest with a board and give them two nest. Them and milk crates are easy to just screw to the wall.
