Olathians here is an article you should read!

Yes I am. My ladies are very well behaved, actually one neighbor had no idea we had chickens. Our dog got mange (I believe from a fox) we have a wonderful mobile vet and he has always been under his care. Instead of our neighbors asking what is wrong with your dog they called animal control. We have lived here for 9 years. I showed all the vet papers and meds and all was okay but he turned us in for chickens. Honestly, I am a criminal, chickens. I can't say anything bad about Olathe the city has been very nice and we are in the process of getting the permit. It is that expenive though. Honestly I would rather us the money for something else, but I love these chickens they are worth every penny. BTW, he said you could have as many outside rabbits as you would like. That seems a bit odd.

No, my husband went for the first meeting a couple months ago. We are hoping they are just "forgetting" about us. I doubt it though. We are currently looking for a some land so we can start gradually building a small house. We own a home in Olathe and our kids are still in school so we wouldn't be ready to move for a few years. I LOVE my girls and there is no way I will get rid of them. I just find it ridiculous. You can have as many rabbits as you want outside, but not chickens???

Just an update, I still have my girls. We haven't proceeded with the SUP, and thankfully it all seems to have went away for now. I'm praying it stays that way. My sweet Golden laces polish has been sick and I was lucky enough to find a vet that will accept chickens at Olathe Animal Hospital, so I wanted to pass that information on to you all.

I'm glad you still have them! Since we got that last letter I had to give away my two sweet bantam roosters and a hen, so now I just have my three silkie girls. I have been letting them out in the front yard as the neighbors that called on us face our backyard.
That is really great to know that Olathe Animal Hospital accepts chickens! What is your polish sick with?

I'm so sorry to hear having neighbor problems, and about your chickens. I find it odd there's no laws with rabbits or birds like parakeets you can have as many of them that you would like, but chickens are taboo...grrr....I am pretty sure she has botulism, I had a bantam polish that up and died, they were coop mates. Knowing Brownie she pecked, and pecked at her corpse until we found her. Brownie loves the banty's and thinks she should mother them. Which is odd for a Polish. The Dr. Said it would be a long drawn out process. I did some research and bought some nutri-drench (I think that's the name) off of Amazon and that has worked wonders. She's still unable to walk or stand but she purrs, talks, kicks, holds her head up, and keeps her eyes open more. I'm praying she makes it.

@Kimberlydm I hope your little one gets better! I will be praying for her.
Do you know the name of the vet at Olathe animal hospital that accepts chickens? I have a hen thats not doing well and she needs medical attention.
