Hi,
I am new to this forum. I recently aquired an antique chicken waterer. This is really cool. It has a reservoir with a float valve to keep the water filled at all times.
Has anyone here in this forum seen one of these before?

Very cool, but how will you keep your birds from roosting on that bar and pooping in the water?

I think that the trough is just to divert any excess water The water does not flow from the nipples. It just forms dew drops so they can drink directly from the nipples.

If you have a problem with the chickens sitting on the top section, just have a local roofer make you a little copper gable roof and attach it just above the float valve box.

Functional, yet stylish.

That is a neat looking device.
