First timer hatching chicks. This chick (don't know breed) was hatched at 10a.m. today. At first there was a sack like thing hanging from it's belly button. Looked like an yoksac. Noticed it was getting longer as time went on. Then noticed what looks like intestines hanging out. I cut what I think was the yoks sac attached to the intestines. Chick is active but not sure what activity level should be. Please help.
I had a chick born this afternoon with the same issue. I saw other posts that implied that there might be a chance the chick will absorb it back through the navel (if it's protruding from there rather than the vent). So I waited. About four hours later, there was no sign of life anymore. I guess the little baby fought long enough.
I hope yours recovers. And maybe someone else can offer better advice.
I had one that hatched on the 14th of this month, I was able to cut the yolk sac off , there was like a tiny string like thing holding it to the intestines, so i cut it there. I read to push them back in with a q-tip, but that was way too big, so i took the cotton off the end of it , soaked it in water, then peeled some of the paper off to make it thin and tiny like a toothpick. got that wet, used another qtip to get the intestines wet , they were really sticky and didnt want to go back in, once wet i was able to easily push them back in , i worked on one side only till i had it all back in. I gave the chick some saveachick , it slept all most for 24 hours, but today i can cant even tell who it was. It was my very first hatch. I only set 8 eggs, 2 werent fertle, the other 6 all hatched on their own and are now all very happy. I searched and searched on here but couldnt find a real answer. I hope you were able to save your chicks.
