We've been fortunate to have a number of hens live to be 7+. This week, however, we lost our oldest girl ever, Suki, a speckled sussex hatched Spring 2014. Let's hear about your old birds!

My oldest hens were two Mille Fleur D'uccles, they were about 8-9yrs old, maybe alittle older.

Spunky, she died in my arms on Thanksgiving Day last year.

Fuzzy Feet, she died in her sleep under the ramp, she died in the spring of this year. Her, & Spunky were best buds.

My oldest hen is the almost white one to the right, she was born in February 2012, behind her is her daughter from August 2013 ( the one with the black head)
She has spurs like a rooster, but laid over 30 eggs last year, I am very curious if she will lay any eggs this year

Since it is winter, my chickens are a sad looking bunch right now ..
Here is a nicer one of her from August last year
