I have raised egg production chickens as well as some exotic chicken breeds most of my life. My egg layers are mainly Rhode Island Reds, Plymouth Barred Rock and heavy sex links. I also have flocks of Black Copper Marans and Speckled Sussex I am proud of also. I raise silkies, partridge cochin bantams and gold laced crested polish that I sell to 4H and FFA kids as project and show birds. I have recently started branching out into other poultry. I have hatched out bobwhite, coturnix and gambel's quail and I have Guinea and turkey eggs in the incubator at the present time.
I joined backyard chickens a few months ago and have learned new tricks of the trade through this website.
No one is ever to old to learn. I have picked up several valuable tips on laying hens that I never knew, even though I have raised them for many years. I hope to learn a lot about the new species of poultry I am raising and all positive input will be appreciated greatly.
