Old chickens, new watering system?

I saw a thing on YouTube, a guy took a laser pointer cat toy a pointed it on the nipples they saw it and instantly pecked at it, they were using it in no time.
Chickens are creatures of habit. If you are worried about teaching an old chicken new tricks, you can also put a tiny speck of bright blood red paint on the part of the nipple that the chickens peck to drink.

Since chickens instinctively peck at anything red, (like a wound on a flock mate) even an old chicken should quickly learn this new trick, but they will only use it to access a new water source if there is no other water source available.

I installed three red nipples on the bottom of a 4 gallon bucket with a hog nipple on the side for the goats. I put this next to their old waterer. I put some peanut butter on the hog nipple to help the goats figure it out. next day I pulled the old waterer. The hog nipple drips some so they all tend to use that.

If it's 100% silicone it's 100% silicone no mater what the label says it's for. The bath stuff might have a mold inhibitor and something to make it white. I tend to get the small tubes labeled for aquariums as I don't waste a bigger tube on a small job.
