OLD COOP DISEASES?

if you mix one cup of bleach to 5 gllons of water you can spray teh coop including soil let dry throughly for 3 days and all viruses and contagions are gone, but you have to clean the coop first. scrub all surfaces with hot soapy water, rinse well and spray the bleach solution the next day. Bleach only works on clean surfaces, vinegar will do the same, but takes 3 minutes of sitting ton surface to work.

Hi,
I just bought a house and there's an old coop on the property. It's a good size. It was never cleaned out (old straw, feces, etc inside) and it needs some minor repairs. It's a wood shed. The owner last had chickens there over 2 years ago (from what I've been told). I have no idea what happened to them (if they died or were given away). So, I was just wondering if the coop was safe to use for chickens now. We would clean it out of course, and you guys have already suggested disinfecting. So, we would do that. We're eager to adopt some chickens and It would be much easier, of course, if we could reuse the existing coop.

Thanks!
