Old English Qs

Quote:
OEG/OEGB, modern games, and american game bantams are the only breeds that have to be dubbed i believe. get sharp scissors.. and just trim it nicely in cold temps, (Follow a article so you know how their supposed to be trimmed..) as long as you have sharp scissors it doesn't bother you nor the bird, and as long as its in cold temps... Not much bleeding

PS.. if you show birds young as cockerels instead of cocks, you do not have to dub them. And if you only show pullets you also never have to dub

Well, that depends. Old English are the most popular breed of bantam and there's almost always a ton of them at shows. There's a lot of competition to beat, some varieties more than others. White, BBRed, and Black are the most popular colors and the hardest to compete in. So if you get into one of those varieties, don't get discouraged if you don't do well. Brassy Back, Wheaton, and Spangled are growing in popularity. My personal favorite is Blue Golden Duckwing and White.
