woops, she was scared after she held it asking me to promise it would be ok and that she hadn't killed it, I best not do what i did this year next year then, I took my orps egg which had a chick peeping inside and give it to Melow, but it hatched ok.....It's hard to say if the chick will be okay, but it can take 24 hours for a chick to hatch - as long as it's still peeping and pecking it's still fighting to get out. You may want to advise your friend that they really should leave the eggs alone under the momma when it's that close to hatching as the momma is regulating the temperatures and humidity levels necessary for the chick to hatch. It's exciting to check on the eggs, but moving them and lifting the hen can cause hatching problems. Hope it is okay and will hatch soon.

mind what she did do was clever with the other hen, she didn't want to move her to see the chicks to she put some food in the mams bowl then tied her phone to the crate on video then left for half an hour and came back and got her phone and the mam had the chicks out on video...
day 20 for me first broody hatch nothing yet but its still early in the morning so i will wait and see ... the hen is a little more aggressive when she sees me she puffs up and squawks at me and this is the first time she is getting mad when she sees me what does that mean she never did it ant other days ??
Maybe she is hearing the babies peep and it is sending her into motherly overdrive.
awesome i hope so she was puffing her self out more when i was there and she was freaking out .... i have a hen that is sitting on the nest now and when she sits on the nest she is really aggressive if someone or something goes near her when she is on it i had a stick and i was putting more shavings by her and she was attacking that stick like crazy ... i had my hand in to do it and she oh most bit me so lol
