I've been using Small Pet Select's flaked oyster shell because it's what my hens like. It's also expensive. I pay $14 for a 5 lb box on Chewy, and it's the same price on Amazon. I've been unable to find another company that makes a flaked product. If anyone knows of an alternative (and bigger containers), I'd sure love to know about that.

I got the Nutrena oyster shell at TSC last time, $7.99/7 pounds. It isn't flakes but the pieces are quite small.

I wonder why the flakes are so much more expensive. They're 7x more than the regular crushed oyster shell I get...
I think the rock-type "oyster shell" is made with shell powder compressed with other products like limestone that maybe lower the cost?

The label on mine says crushed oyster shell and calcium carbonate. So, I looked it up and it's just crushed shell coated in calcium carbonate powder. The idea is that the oyster shell bits are a slow release form and the carbonate powder is a quick release form. Eggshells are also quick release so it's very helpful if you don't feed back a lot of eggshells to have the coated chunks.
