Do you guys often have late hatching eggs under broody hens? I've got 2 eggs left under my hen that haven't pipped yet, 2 days after hatch day, although the other two chicks of our three only hatched yesterday. Neither of the eggs have pipped either. Does this mean they've probably not made it? :( All were developing fine when I last candled them.

sometimes but not often. My broody chicks hatch between day 19 and 21 normally, but I have had them as late as day 25. Eggs aren't on a timer and can't read calenders....so it happens. But like Isaid, not often.

I'd let them go a few more days. Sometimes, if the hen gets off the nest and it's a cool/cold morning, the eggs will cool and that will slow development slightly. Just give them more time. It can't hurt anything.

I'll probably just let the broody decide when she wants to leave them then. I'll candle them tonight again to see if theres any life, but even if theres not I'm not too devastated considering these eggs were probably already a week+ old when I put them under her.
