Old Fashioned Broody Hen Hatch A Long and Informational Thread

thanks, that is some of them
I don't think you could get them all on camera at the same time. Unless they stood on each others shoulders, oh wait they don't have shoulders.

That's what the roosters hang onto when there is a hen underneath!

One year we had two roosters that were brothers. They were awful! They would catch a hen and one would climb on while the other one waited. Then the other one would climb on. They would take turns, not giving the hen any rest or chance to escape.

I was never so glad to get rid of two birds in my life!

There was one funny incident though... I have to tell...

One time, they caught a hen and neither one wanted to wait so they BOTH climbed on... one rooster on the hen, the other rooster on top of his brother! We had a stack three high!

I would need a reaaly wide lens to cover the 2 to 3 acres the rest were on

. Some in the backyard, some next door at moms house. Some just out of the lens range. The other mama RIR was on the other side of my front lawn in this pic. In the center of one of the pics is one of the mama RIR's and her 6 "little ones" . They are about the size of a full grown Sumatra hen and still with mama.
