I had 3 RIR's go broody this summer and one hatchery White Leghorn go broody as well as an Runner duck. None well known as broody's. If it is in their genes it is in their genes. That is so true, stonykill has a RIR that brooded just this past summer, so we can't lump them all into one bag, they are all different.

...orps sitting and clucking at me the last few days. I am gonna run outta room to put them. Do you think i should give them both some eggs to hatch or try to break them, that seems so harsh.
It's not always that easy. Happy it was for you.My broody BO I ignored and a little over 2 weeks later she gave up on her own.
O.K got my 3rf and 4th broody's today, that's 4 broody's in 1 week, something in defiantly in the air. Ive decided to put eggs under 2 broody's and stop the other two. One of the broody's is a White Leghorn which I'm quite surprised about as they have been especially bred for laying and hardly ever go broody and it's quite uncommon for them to go broody i heard. Must be some deep internal instinct that has kicked in lol. Do i just put the broody's i want to stop in a cage with no nest for a couple days???
Thats what some folks do, nothing for them to sleep in so they feel the air up under them. All the best on your broody's keep us informed on how they do and remember not to get carried away and put too many eggs under them especially first time mamas.O.K got my 3rf and 4th broody's today, that's 4 broody's in 1 week, something in defiantly in the air.
