I got my first glimps of our hatching chicks yesterday. I really wish I could have gotten them candled so I would know how many to hope for, so right now I am just hoping for all 14. So far, I have seen 2 little faces.

After having 3 mums co hatch a set of eggs I now have 3 more Broodies, each in their own box, so I have 3 eggs each with them. Will see how many more I get have hatch, hopefully another 9 as I gave them the shipped eggs out of the incuabator. 10 days until I find out.

6 at a time might be fun! I had 5 at once for a short time before the first one weaned hers. None of mine co brood though. I wonder if they would if I had larger nest boxes, but the way they act, I doubt it. I have mommas who do not mind other chicks hanging around, but they do not actually take care of each other's chicks. I also have one who will not allow other chicks to hang around. And when sitting, they do not want other chickens bothering them. They are too moody! Lol

I have a broody serama this is her third time brooding last batch was 18-20 serama chicks this time she was sitting on three standard eggs one hatched still two to go

I kind of wish another hen would go broody for me. But on the other hand, it is just getting too cold, so I hope they wait a couple months. My last one on eggs lost all but 3 out of 14. Not her fault, but mine, and she is being a great momma.

Lol! Yes, even a half kinda wish, too! She is definitely serious about it. I have to put double layer gloves on to get eggs out from under her. I already wear a heavy coat. She doesn't just bite, she grabs hold and shakes, trying to rip off chunks!
