I AM tired, Miss Lydia. What a great show!!! I posted a bunch of pictures over on a Crossroads thread. Are you subscribed to that one? (LOTS of frizzles at the show .... ) (And I have 37 eggs in the incubator - 17 Black Copper Marans, 6 Cuckoo Marans, 11 B/B/S Ameraucanas - and - 3 Silkies! All from Crossroads. My cup runneth over.)

Just got back from looking at all the pics, great pics too I might add, too bad you weren't able to stuff that frizzle into your pocket.

Glad you all had a great time and thank you for all the great pics. loved the frizzles!

Along this line, I plan on having Wyandottes which are extremely broody, but somewhere I read it was unwise to let them hatch eggs. Why would this be? The only reason I can think of is perhaps because they're a large bird and might break the eggs. Anyone have experience here or know why this comment was made?

I am certainly not the most experienced on this thread but certainly NO ONE would have recommended letting a "red sex link" hatch out a bunch of chicks but I did and she's still going strong at 9 and a half weeks. At this point the chicks are as big or even bigger than her and she's still fiercely defending them!!

Despite the fact that I knew I couldn't bring undocumented fowl legally into Canada with me, I did make an attempt to capture that renegade curly black critter that I posted at the beginning!! I'd have stuffed him in my pocket if he let me! But he was determined to remain free and a US citizen so I moved on ....

So, the eggs haven't hatched yet, I am still clueless as to what day I set them. Would the fact that this broody insists on pooping on EVERYTHING (eggs included) possible have murdered these eggs? Do poopy eggs hatch?

EDIT: Well, they haven't hatched yet, but they are developing nicely and almost filling up their eggs, I candled them all, had one early quitter under FooFoo but all 6 under Flufferpants are doing just fine, and the remaining 5 under FooFoo are excellent as well. So I guess I just need to check them often, no pips or visible internal pips yet, but they are taking up a lot of egg, so soon hopefully!
