This must be a BIG moult year!! I had a coop explosion as well, then a flock of porcupines, and now a bunch of hens I don't recognize!!!!!

they are pretty when they finally get their feathers back in.

We had/have a coyote stopping for breakfast so the black feathers scattered around could be either leftovers or a BA molting. THe weird thing is the regular coop for the BA has very few feathers; the EE coop had the mass of feathers.

THe good news is a BA is determined to be broody and hasn't quit after 2 weeks, so I finally gave in and stuck EE eggs under her.

AND I pick up 2 BO roosters tomorrow!!!

I really need more BO. Big fluffy pretty girls.

well it looks like "mama" was in there doing the egg song to mess with my head

. I searched high and low in that shed, and no new nests to be found. I think she did it to throw me off track as to where her real nest is. She is like that

Speaking of hard molts, poor "lil blue" my other egg hiding master is going thru an awful molt. No tailfeathers left, and she looks like she went thru the washer and dryer.

. Even her main man "xman" is staying clear of her. poor lil thing

My broody had two chicks last night and a third had popped.........we now have three.........
