If she is safe then I'd just leave her. keep us updated.

Thank you. I just took a quick peek and didn't see any pipping yet. I'm anxious for them to hatch but don't want to do anything that will keep them from it. It's hard not to just sit in there with her and wait, thinking something magical will happen if I do. I have to keep telling myself to be patient and wait.

If today is day 18 most likely you'll not see any pipping yet, but sometimes one can fool ya and pip early as day 19 so keep an ear to the nest box. They can get pretty loud when working on getting out of the egg. keep us posted!

But don't get discouraged if they don't make noise. Mine were silent as church mice until well out of their shells. Now, I can't shut them up!!!

Well I just got a shipment of eggs and slipped then under my other broody hen, Bones. My first broody is a happy and proud momma so I am hoping this hatch goes as well! Due date is November 28th!

I've been filled with hope reading this thead, ie: I won't necessarily hear them pip, my chicks will be warm enough as Momma has a down jacket, ect. The eggs do not smell, but it is now day 23. I spent a lot of time yesterday just sitting by her side listening (not a huge sacrifice on such a beautiful fall day) and not a sound.

When is it safe to give up? My son wants to order eggs now from BYC.

Before giving up I'd do some candleing if your not sure how type in candleing on the search up in the right side of this page. it will give you instructions. Take a few eggs out and look them over listen to them. But stony says he's had them hatch on day 25. Let us know what you find out.
