Old Fashioned Broody Hen Hatch A Long and Informational Thread

Moved Big Momma and her egg into the garage today. Took her about 10 minutes to check out the new area and start sitting again. She appears to like it, just hope the frequent movement in the garage doesn't bother her!

Trying to place a picture of her in here, we'll see if it works!

hey I have a couple of broody hens and I would love to get some eggs, but I want to get some buff orphington and maybe some aracana eggs. does anyone know a good place to get some. I checked a local hatchery and they do not offer these. also I have noticed eggs are so darn expensive more expensive than the chicks themselves and I don't understand why. also why is my hen going broody this time of year it seems to cold and just not a good time. I kept taking her eggs away and she just kept setting on new ones. I am worried she is not eating or drinking so i take her over to the food and water and then put her back. she is a tiny red bantam Cochin. she is so tiny one perl white legger egg is almost all she can cover. I have been thinking I would really like to order some good large cornish cross eggs so she can raise them but that I can process them I know but we do eat meat and so I would rather have little red get out her mothering and take good care of the birds and make sure they have a good life and such. does anyone know where to get large cornish cross eggs?
