very cool! And your weather is warm!!!!!!!! It didn't get over 19 on Christmas day here and it snowed Christmas night. Daughter and her 3 lil ones were still out and about both days doing chicken stuff !
 
I have brown, white, green layers. I would have to mark the eggs. Does handling the eggs hurt them? Do I just throw her out of the nest and ck if any others are there? Do I ck daily or is every other day good?

Now I'm a real newbie myself but... Wait until after it's dark then go in with very low light and gently take each egg, do your marking, then return.

For a new broody I usually pick her up from the nest and put her at the waterer once a day while i clean up the coop. That is when I check or remove eggs. They are remarkably stiff when first picked up, almost trance like. She will run around bok bok boking, getting food, water, dust bathe, and poop (stinky!) then she will cluck cluck and return to her nest. If you are going to candle them i would do it at night just because its easier to see through them in the dark. The eggs are remarkably sturdy and handling them a bit shouldn't harm them.
