Quote: OMG what a hoot. I was looking at all the negative space and the blocks of color and could only come up with a Candle..... Now I see it. I want Runner Ducks they are about the only ducks that I would subject to my climate. I hear some of them lay blue eggsies. I have SEEN a black one.... Amazing.
Metzer farms is somewhat local to me and they specialize in ducks. Sigh.... number four on my list of must have poultry...

Miss Penelope, the Runner mom pictured taking a bath lays a blueish egg. Her offsprings eggs aren't as blue but are getting bluer. They have only been laying a few weeks now.

Twenty one days ago I took pity on my broody hen and took away her fake eggs and gave her real eggs. When I checked on her before noon today, this is what I found.

When I returned a few minutes later, I was rewarded with this.

Had to run to the post office to pick up hatching eggs and upon returning I saw a second newly hatched chick which was still wet. So far, 2 of 7 eggs are definitely hatched.

congrats!

One of my silkie's has been sitting on 5 eggs for 22 days now. When I checked on her this afternoon, I heard chirping from the eggs...not sure how many..but at least 2. First hatch ever..so even two is a good sign.
