Old Fashioned Broody Hen Hatch A Long and Informational Thread

I can't get these two to break. So I'm going to be a broody enabler. I put five of my eggs under Vanilla Ice and Shirley Jones. Three under Vanilla and two under Shirley. I'm sure they will shift them around and co hatch them. Broodies! They will be due June 8th.

I have had so many complications with my broody that i wouldnt be surprised if none hatched. But id rather none hatch than one or two hatching because i was hoping for a big bunch of babies. Atleast if none hatch i can just put some more eggs under her... So best case scenario: 4-6 babies, second best: none

I am actually really annoyed. I was away last night so I asked a friend to go check on the hens to make sure mama and chicks got to bed ok, well they forgot. And at the minute something keeps knocking the ramps off! And if they have been knocked off she couldn't get the babies to bed and I cant go see them until 5pm and its 12pm now! And everywere is flooded today, I really hope she is ok!!

Well, I went up. Everyone was fine and the ramps were up and it was pouring down and she was just plonked in the middle of the field covering the chicks!, such a strange hen:

Family pic!

Dottie hatched 1 egg on Day 23,
on Day 24 another egg hatched.
On Day 25 two eggs hatched.
There are two eggs left.

One egg feels warm but when I put it to my ear I don't hear anything.
The other egg doesn't feel warm. But she still lays on them both.
I am so glad she is in charge here.

I notice too they don't peep as much with mother hen.
The hatchery chicks delivered by the post office cheeped all the time.

I am a newbie and having Dottie the Japanesse bantam hatch eggs and take care of chicks is way so much easier.
