Old Fashioned Broody Hen Hatch A Long and Informational Thread

You mean for eating? I sell mine for $2.00 a dozen.

My nephew wants to buy 6 to incubate. I sell my other eggs for eating for $2 a dozen too.

I sell my Bantam eggs for $2.50 a dozen, and my Standard eggs for $3.00 a dozen. Feed went up, so I also had to go up.

Just wanted to share hatch announcement!! 2 of 5 have hatched but the one got back under mom before I could get the camera,

I would sell them for the same price.

I can join now! I've not a broody Speckled Sussex sitting on 7 Welsummer eggs from Ruth, a fellow BYCer

I JUST finished her broody coop and popped her in it. She is a little dazed and confused but seems to like her new digs. I built it with all reclaimed/recycled wood and shingles. I bought the hardware cloth, handles, hinges and eye hooks. I started yesterday, while my husband was at work. When he came home and saw what I was working on, he started checking all my angles to see how square it was turing out! I wanted to punch him in the nose! I am inside taking a break, building that low to the ground is rough on the back!

Here she sits, right next to the rest of the flock in their run. I can see everyone from my dining room window.

Roof comes completely off for easy cleaning of the coop. The top of the run hinges open for easy access.

Handles on front and back for easy transport.

Fresh and clean before broody-poops!

I am so excited for the babies to hatch! I am hoping for at least 2.

This is the old gal herself, Grumpy Chicken getting comfortable.

And finally, the view from the flock's perspective.

Wish us luck!!!!

great little broody hut krcote! I'm going to build something similar for my 3 week old Sumatra chicks. I want to get them out in the grass on nice days! And tell your hubby you did a great job!

My broody cochin is now setting on 8 different kinds of eggs I got from a friend. The first batch of 11 never hatched, and rotted with a horrible odor

My worst nightmare! I am daydreaming about at least 2 hatching.
