ok, sorry I don't have time to read the thread as I am running out now and will be running most of the day

. I have a broody that had a few eggs added(by another hen) to her nest before I realized she was broody. I know some of them won't hatch for a few more days. she started hatching monday and won't get off the nest to eat or drink. I am concerned the first chicks should start eating/drinking today right? I was going to pull the remaining egg and toss them in the hatcher. Am I jumping the gun? I am going to give them till this afternoon unless I hear otherwise...thanks in advance for any help, if you can't tell this is my first broody that got over on me

OK! My latest Black Sumatra broody has cute little fuzzy butts. She let me see 5 little ones! She initially was on 6 eggs, then 10. So I know at least 5 or her initial 6 hatched! She hasn't left the nest yet, but will soon, as what is probably the 1st born is out of the nest, but close to mama. Pics when I can get them!
