Hi dawng, those are some awesome pics. you do good being a wall lol. She literally has chicks coming out all over. Congrats that all are healthy and mamas are so good with them, sorry you lost one. We had the same thing happen and lost it too. Our grandkids were here and it was a difficult lesson for us all as well. We had a funeral for a chick and a duckling, the sweetest part for me was my little 8 yr. old grandson reading the 23 Psalm at the funeral. But life goes on and we all have some awesome chicks and mamas!! Congrats again

My 7 month old Wyandotte decided to go broody, 1 month after starting to lay... I read about breaking her, and I just didn't like that solution. So, I got several fertile eggs.
Here she is.

she is so happy with her little ones. I enjoyed watching her today and seeing her crunch up barley so the babies could eat. I am really enjoying it.

The quality of my pics isn't very good: Have to shoot through the glass door and the wire mesh. Will dust off my real camera very soon, not my mobile

Congrats on the chicks cute pics.

Well remember you don't HAVE to give them eggs or chicks!

And you don't need to do some of the awful things people do to stop them.

You can just take the eggs away as often as possible and let Nature take it's course. They do start laying again eventually

One of my original broodys that raised her chicks became broody again. She just broke herself. I took the eggs away and finally she just laid on nothing but shavings, she just came out of her brodiness yesterday.

Problem! Please help! This afternoon i got home to find chicky outside dead in the run and momma on nest. Did she get down and take baby with but leave behind? Did another hen steal her and kill it? There is no way the chick got out on it's own and momma seems protective. Could it have died and she kick it out? It was early, but seemed good yesterday. Should I move mom somewhere private? Help newbie here plz

This is good to hear, b/c I really don't want to have to stick them in a wire cage...
